The truth about Erectile Dysfunction and High Blood Pressure

When I first started to research my Erectile Dysfunction I came across one of the causes being high blood pressure, sometimes called hypertension.  At first I thought well if you have high blood pressure should that not help out because the issues is I have low blood pressure when it comes to my penis.  That however is not how it works, actually it mean you have high blood pressure at your heart and the rest of your body suffers.  The other thing is that most people believe that if you have High Blood Pressure you cannot take any medication for your Erectile Dysfunction – this however is completely untrue.  There are many effective therapies for Erectile Dysfunction that can be taken along with blood pressure medications so don’t listen to the nay-sayers.

Having said that, many medicines used to treat high blood pressure can actually worsen your Erectile Dysfunction.  It is best that you discuss your medication profile with your doctor before starting in with any new treatments.

If you have tried medication for Erectile Dysfunction and they have not improved your erections, don’t worry and what ever you do do not give up. There are increased treatments that pay of great dividends so it is worth it to keep looking.

When did the word Impotence become so taboo?

We all know the feeling when your doctor tells you that you are Impotent.  That sinking feeling of confusion and shame all at the same time.  When I was young I though being Impotent meant that you could not have children, well that is not the case, that’s something else!  No being impotent means that you are unable to make your penis erect, or if you can make it erect you cannot sustain an erection long enough to penetrate your partner.  We all know what it feels like, like you were let down by your own body.  As a man we put a lot of pride into our ability to maintain an erection and it ties directly into our sense of being a strong virile man.  Well that is just it, being impotent or not has no reflection on whether you are a “Real Man” or not.

What you need to do is to take ownership of the term and understand that it does not take away from who you are as a man.  There are many reasons as to why you are impotent and you need to take a deep breath and look at what might be the cause and realize that you can make it to the other side.

Every story starts with a beginning

Welcome to my site!

My wife suggested that I start this blog as I document all that I have learned about my own Erectile Dysfunction issues.  I plan on going over the notes I have collected over the past three years and outline what I have learned along the way.

To start off I want you to know that you are not alone and that is why I created this site so that you can get the most out of your life and find answers to your questions.  So as the old ancient Chinese proverb goes – a journey of a thousand miles begins with it’s first step.

Here we go on our journey!
